Today Senior Infants had a virtual tour of Dónal and Fiona's West Wicklow dairy farm, all thanks to Agri Aware. We got to see the cows, calves and lambs that live on the farm. The farm had an amazing 220 cows, some of which were Angus cows and some were Friesian cows. The farmers told us they have a camera to keep an eye on the calves at all times. They are only 4 weeks old! One of our favourite parts of the tour was seeing the lambs. They were given to the farm because their mother couldn't look after them. Since the farm is a dairy farm, the only crop they grow is grass! They have started to grow clover as well because it is very good for the soil.
